Terms of Service for TipChecks

Last Updated: December 27, 2025

By using TipChecks and subscribing to our Verified Partner Membership, you agree to these terms.

Purpose of TipChecks

TipChecks is a neutral verification platform that displays whether a business has voluntarily submitted documentation supporting its stated tipping policy.

TipChecks does not investigate, audit, or determine whether a business complies with labour laws or whether a tipping practice is fair or lawful.

What Information We Display

TipChecks displays publicly available business information (such as name, category, and location) and a verification status based on whether a business has chosen to submit documentation for review.

Verification statuses may include:

  • Verified – The business has submitted documentation supporting its stated tip policy.
  • Unknown – The business has not submitted documentation for verification.
  • No tips accepted – The business states that it does not accept tips.

What Verification Means

Verification confirms only that documentation was submitted and reviewed according to TipChecks’ published criteria.

Verification does not represent a legal opinion, guarantee, endorsement, or certification of compliance with employment or tipping laws.

What TipChecks Does Not Do

TipChecks does not:

  • Accuse businesses of wrongdoing
  • Determine whether tips are distributed “fairly”
  • Publish allegations or unverified claims
  • Rank or penalize businesses based on tipping practices

Business Responsibility

Businesses are responsible for ensuring that the information they submit is accurate and up to date.

Businesses may update or withdraw their submitted documentation at any time.

Corrections & Disputes

Any business may request a correction or review of its listing.

TipChecks provides a good-faith process to review correction requests and update information where appropriate.

Limitation of Liability

TipChecks is not responsible for business decisions made by customers, workers, or third parties based on information displayed on the platform.

All information is provided for transparency purposes only.

Removal Policy

TipChecks reserves the right to remove or update listings that contain inaccurate, misleading, or incomplete information, or that violate these Terms.

1. The Certification Audit

  • Audit as a Service: Your subscription fee covers a manual professional review of your business's tipping records.
  • Document Submission: To receive a badge, you must submit accurate POS reports or payroll statements.
  • Accuracy: You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the information you submit.

2. Billing, Cancellations, and Refunds

  • Billing Cycles: Monthly plans renew every 30 days; Annual plans renew every 365 days.
  • Cancel Anytime: You may cancel via the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • Refund Policy: Fees are non-refundable once an audit has begun—even if the audit results in a "failed" status.
  • Annual Plans: A 30-day money-back window applies only if the audit has not started. No partial refunds are provided for unused months.
  • Sales Final: All other sales are final except in cases of technical checkout errors.

3. Badge Revocation and Integrity

  • Badge Removal: If a subscription ends, the Certified Badge is removed and your status reverts to "Unverified".
  • Revocation Rule: If documents are found to be falsified or your policy changes without notice, TipChecks may revoke your badge immediately without refund.

4. Use of Service and Liability

  • Lawful Use: You must use the service lawfully and not attempt to harm the platform.
  • No Warranties: TipChecks is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee the completeness of any listing.
  • Liability: TipChecks and its team are not liable for damages arising from your use of the service.

5. Data Security

All verification documents are handled according to our Privacy Policy and are stored in a secure, encrypted environment.
